FEBFAST Update

February 13, 2009 at 10:03 am (Fun stuff) (, , , )

alcohol-free-zone

I am currently 13 days into a month of abstaining from alcohol as a way of helping to raise money for FEBFAST, a charity that will distribute all funds raised to various organisations that help kids with alcohol and drug related problems.

So far a lot of generous people have sponsored me raising $170!!! Woot!

Its not too late to help out. If you’d like to sponsor me please go to: http://www.everydayhero.com.au/heather_williams

I’m kinda enjoying the break from the booze…although I must admit I’m looking forward to a big night out in March!

Interesting…

February 13, 2009 at 9:44 am (Uncategorized)

OK, so I don’t really understand how it all works, but its none the less a very interesting concept for a website . AlphaInventions lets you view all the blogs that have recently been updated and if you find one that flashes across that looks good to you, then you can go straight to that blog. How cool!

Lamest job title ever!

February 13, 2009 at 8:18 am (Library stuff) (, , )

Edinburgh Council has plans to change the job title of its Council Librarians to ‘Audience Development Officers’. What does that even mean? If you’re going to change the job title of one of the oldest professions on earth then at least change it to something meaningful and at least descriptive of the position like ‘Information Manager’. I don’t blame them for striking – I would too.

BlueHackers

My husband showed me this site the other day. I think its and awesome idea that people in the same industry can support others with depression, anxiety and bi-polar disorders. Especially in the I.T/Geek industry where they have a unique work environment and there are particular challenges in dealing with issues relating to mental health. That’s where this group can help with additional insights, tips, and posts from others with experience.

They are also creating a page for spouses and families of sufferers with links to resources in Australian and NZ especially for us.

Its a fairly new website so there is not much content at the moment, but if they keep at it I can see that it will be a great place to gain ideas and support.

Putting the fun into chores…no, really!

February 13, 2009 at 1:45 am (Fun stuff) (, , , )

Best site eva for making chores a bit more rewarding. If I had kids I’d totally be using this with them…..I might even use it right now with just me and Matt. Hehehehe.

The aim is to create your own character and by doing chores (in real life) on your ‘parties’ list you gain experience points and go up the levels and kick the ass of everyone else in your group.

Love this idea!
